The general role of the Operations Technician I – Oil & Gas Services is to perform labor in potentially all areas of the Service Group of the Field Services division. The Services group handles all work related to the company’s involvement in various industries to include but not limited to: Oil & Gas, Concrete, Aggregate, Energy, etc. The Operations Technician I must be available to answer calls from Beitzel Operations Management while on duty and during set scheduled on-call rotations.

This individual will be mechanically inclined and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

The Operations Technician I will report to the Operations Manager – Oil & Gas Services and will work in areas as directed.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete training and perform work utilizing various small equipment to include excavator, telehandler, skid steer, manlift, etc.
  • Perform tasks including but not limited to: general maintenance, fueling, refueling, handling drill cuttings, loading/unloading trucks, assisting solids control technicians, miscellaneous mechanical work such as bolting/unbolting flanges, operation of power tools (pumps, drills, hammers), miscellaneous grounding work such as grounding light plants, containment repair, spotting equipment, pressure washing, material handling with hand tools, confined space watch or entry, performing equipment maintenance (hydraulic lines, fuel filters, diesel anti-gel), pump/tank maintenance repair, rigging up and rigging down
  • Perform, under supervision, the day-to-day activities assigned by the customer and ensure that all required daily/weekly checklists, inspections, rig-up/ rig-down, and emergency situations are resolved in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in the Mudster rig-up and rig-down process and maintenance activities
  • Perform basic rigging duties
  • Recognize and utilize hand tools and industrial power tools safely and effectively
  • Assist with materials handling and storage
  • Stage tools and materials and assist as required
  • Identify issues and concerns from the field and ensure that a positive relationship exists between the Beitzel field staff, the customer, and Division Management
  • Alert Division Management of non-routine issues and repairs or issues that cannot be resolved in the field
  • Assist in coordinating maintenance, repairs, and additional work with the customer and Division Management
  • Assist other field personnel as directed
  • Provide daily operations updates to Operations Management
  • Work a scheduled hitch on an assigned location
  • Serve as a point of contact between operations personnel and Beitzel Corporation during the assigned hitch
  • Prepare, with guidance, time, and material (T&M) tickets, receipts, and other paperwork as required
  • Assist other trades to include, but not be limited to welding, pipe fitting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, rigging, excavation, ditching, trenching, insulating, fabricating

Qualifications:
  • No oil and gas experience necessary
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal direction
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Skillful in dealing with the public in a manner which will facilitate constructive problem solving
  • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations
  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Wear safety equipment: per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
