Position Summary

The Operations Accountant/Accounting Supervisor performs highly skilled accounting work related to the large scale operations of the College. The work is critical to College operations and requires a high degree of accuracy in preparing and auditing financial records, and preparing financial reports for government agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reconcile all bank accounts and prepare cash reports.
  • Maintain and prepare all financial account records and journals.
  • Reconcile fixed assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and annual budgets, federal grants and process budget amendments and adjustments.
  • Assist in supervising all financial accounting, internal auditing, records and procedures.
  • In order to perform these essential functions, the Operations Accountant must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 21 semester hours in field
  • Minimum of three years related experience.
  • Must have knowledge of standard accounts payable policies, procedures, regulations, general accounting principles, and mathematics.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and solve problems and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements and other requests for payments, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor statements, and inventory control procedures.
  • Must be able to prepare budgets and financial statements, and have a working knowledge of grants and government/non-profit fund accounting.
  • Must be proficient with administrative computing systems and commonly used computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to supervise staff members.
  • Must be able to work all assigned hours.

  • Separate transcripts from each college attended (photocopies will suffice until employed)
