The Older Adult Services Specialist based in Faribault serves as an advocate for older adults and their caregivers by empowering and problem-solving with clients in order to find ways to remain in their homes for as long as possible. The Specialist is also responsible for coordination of the Meals on Wheels program in several communities including Faribault, Cannon Falls and Lonsdale. Position involves meal delivery coordination with caterers; recruiting and managing volunteer drivers through detailed and frequent communications; education to clients and community partners about service; completing home visit assessments; performing detailed data entry in several databases; and some public speaking. Full-time position (40 hours per week) based in Faribault. Occasional remote work may be approved after training period. Frequent travel throughout Rice and Goodhue Counties using a personal vehicle is required; mileage reimbursement is based on the IRS mileage rate (currently $0.655/mile).

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required. Associates Degree in a Human Services related field preferred, as well as 1-3 years administrative experience.
  • Ability to make decisions that require an understanding of Agency and program policies, client rights, customer service, and the Older Adult population
  • Ability to resolve complex and difficult problems/conflicts with limited assistance and quickly adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work with the public and those of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Self-motivated, confident individual with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both verbally (in person and via phone) and in writing
  • Active listening skills with the ability to understand clients needs
  • Demonstrated understanding of culturally sensitive standards, language, and different cultural and economic lifestyles and priorities
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills with the capacity to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to conduct self professionally as a representative of the Agency
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), including strong data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to travel across counties served by Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. using personal vehicle
