The University of Southern Indiana’s Enrollment Services seeks applicants for a full-time Nursing Recruitment and Retention Coordinator. This position will assist with admission and plan of study activities and instructional services for nursing programs including BSN and RN-BSN, MSN and DNP. This position will also direct a comprehensive undergraduate BSN academic, career advising, and student support program. These services include new student orientation, academic advising, career advising, marketing, recruitment, College of Nursing and Health Professions (CHNP) admissions, and compliance with campus and school policies and standards.

Essential Functions include but not limited to:
Holistic Admissions for BSN
  • Process applications for admission to the undergraduate BSN nursing programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the CNHP Advising Center to promote and coordinate the holistic admission process.
  • Facilitate implementation of live student interviews.
  • Tabulate applicants’ final admission scores and present numeric ranking roster (cumulative score based on academic, interview, and professional resume scores) to the Undergraduate Nursing Admission and Progression Committee.
  • Prepare admission reports of all applicants and collaborate with Undergraduate Program Chair for Nursing on sending acceptance/denial letters
  • Serve as primary contact for campus offices regarding student advising. Make recommendations to faculty committees for policy changes and implementation regarding advising and admissions. Keep current with university policy, procedure, and curriculum changes.
Marketing for RN-BSN and other Nursing Programs
  • Collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer and CNHP’s Content Marketing Specialist to develop and oversee market research, creation and delivery of marketing materials for the Nursing Program. Maintain all marketing records and files related to the RN-BSN Program.
  • Assist with the development of marketing and advertising strategies for the RN-BSN population. Suggest and/or implements enhanced marketing tools, including e-communication and other admission literature.
  • Participate in University RN-BSN marketing and recruiting activities. Activities may include but are not limited to community college visitations, college fair participation, visits to military installations, employers, etc. and personalized communication (telephone and email).
  • Oversee RN-BSN nursing program recruiting. Collaborate with staff, campus community, and healthcare partners regarding recruitment initiatives. Represent the nursing programs in recruiting events. Represent nursing programs and institution at local, state, and professional organizations.
  • Participate in recruitment and advising activities for all nursing programs.
RN-BSN Support Specialist
  • Meet with and respond electronically to current students in the nursing programs. Communicate regularly with RN-BSN student concerning academic program requirements, registration dates, tutoring, counseling, career services and other relevant information.
  • Monitor RN-BSN academic performance; respond to, and work with faculty to resolve RN-BSN concerns, questions, or issues.
  • Coordinate/facilitate prior learning credit assessments available to RN-BSN students.
  • Assign faculty advisors to students in the RN-BSN Program.
  • Serve as communication liaison between RN-BSN nursing program, its students, other academic departments, and the external offices/departments.
Nursing Program Administrative
  • Compile data related for reporting requirements upon request; including but not limited to collection and collation of accreditation documents and curriculum documents.
  • Provide support to the program Chair and faculty.
  • Participate in evaluating nursing advising process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide support services for the Dean, Assistant Deans and Program Chairs as assigned.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently required.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data using the results to implement future programs, plans, and strategies.
  • Experience working with a student information system (e.g., SIS or BANNER) preferred.
  • Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and electronic mail required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Academic advising and admissions experience preferred.
