  • Assess and monitor physical and emotional aspects of clients with substance use disorders.
  • Performs complete history and physical on clients within 24 hours of admission.
  • Prescribe medications following established protocols, individualizing client care as appropriate.
  • Order, review, and respond appropriately to all diagnostic lab results.
  • Diagnose and provide medical management of clients for acute care on call appointments as required.
  • Perform medication re-evaluations.
  • Coordinate treatment efforts with the Medical Director and Mental Health Providers to facilitate and ensure optimal care of clients.
  • As needed, provide primary care for common medical conditions, including but not limited to: diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal problems, and asthma.
  • Assist Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and Nursing staff to meet the medical needs of the clients.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and education to Registered Nurses and Heath Center staff.
  • Complete and interpret genetic testing to assist in medication selection and client education efforts.
  • Liaison with cooperating community medical services.
  • Conduct smoking cessation classes as required.
  • Perform diabetic consultation.
  • Presents case study analysis and staff education for challenging medical and psychiatric cases.
  • Review lab results and ensure that detox orders match the results and are received in a timely manner and treatment reflects the findings.
  • Conduct medication classes and discharge teaching sessions with clients as needed to ensure their understanding of stress and anxiety reduction techniques, sleep hygiene, appropriate use of medications, exercise, nutrition, hydration, seeking appropriate assistance and other wellness factors that promote healthy living at home or at sober living facility.
  • Present Recovery Education for clients.
  • Attend committee meetings as assigned.
  • Provide input to the development of departmental budget.
  • Adheres to confidentiality laws including 42CFR Part 2, HIPAA and HITECH as well as all Harmony policies and procedures.
  • Pay range for this full-time position is $120,000-$135,000/year
