General Summary

Our Clinical Informatics team is seeking an experienced, autonomous Informatics Nurse to participate in the ongoing planning, implementation, training, evaluation and maintenance of a variety of systems used to support the delivery of patient care and practice of physicians, nurses and other clinical staff.

Reporting to our Nurse Director, the Informatics Nurse will oversee projects including but not limited to patient care documentation, computerized provider order entry, electronic medication administration and other clinical systems. The expectation is that the Informatics Nurse will leverage their knowledge of Epic and other identified systems to support the advanced clinical applications from user provisioning to creation and maintenance of dictionaries, to creation of test scripts for application implementation and upgrades. Project management, communication, and relationship-building skills will be vital to ensure success in this role.

The desired schedule for this role will be 32 hours per week, but the hours will vary depending on projects and ongoing initiatives. This position falls under the MNA.


  • Job Knowledge and Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through various communication styles such as written and verbal communication.
    • Demonstrated organization skills that promote the responsibility for self-direction.
    • Demonstrated ability to support advanced clinical applications from user provisioning to creation and maintenance of dictionaries to creation of test scripts for application implementation and upgrades.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize relative to time frames and to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex systems problems and ability to prioritize, manage, and implement complex projects.
  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field strongly preferred.
    • Master's degree in Nursing, Informatics or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Required: 3 years of development, evaluation, and implementation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) or other clinical applications
    • Required: Minimum of 3 years previous nursing experience in a health care institution of similar size and complexity.
    • Required: Experience with meeting facilitation
    • Required: Experience with training
    • Required: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations (if applicable) :
      • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required
      • CPR training required
  • Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) preferred
