Expeditor/Inventory Management/Packer needed in Thomson, GA

Starting Pay Rate: $ 13.88 per hour - Can eventually earn up to $15.33 per hour

****All positions are eligible for up to a $1000 sign-on/retention bonus****

Shift: 1st shift 8 am - 4 pm with the flexibility to fill in for other shifts as needed.

Job Summary:

The Expeditor/Packer will be responsible for managing out-of-flow rolls in SAP and excel. They must have the ability to run consistently and efficiently both packing and warehouse jobs as needed. It will be essential that the Expeditor/Packer supports and integrates Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork into the daily performance of assigned responsibilities.

Primary Responsibility:

Main Duties (Morning Shift, subject to change based on business need)

Manage short rolls inventory and batching process

  • Manage non-standard rolls for batching and shipment, and move rolls to appropriate locations for processing with ultimate goal of minimizing Work-In-Process (WIP) inventory.
  • Navigate through SAP batch characteristics, change batch characteristics, and pull up current cloth inventory.
  • Navigate BARCO and pull up doff schedule and doff prediction. Call for non-standard doffs on the loom, and batch that roll with existing short rolls in the WIP inventory
  • Move rolls between bins, tables, frames, and conveyors. Use ergonomic principles to minimize risk when handling all rolls.
  • Maintain SAP traceability and accuracy for WIP inventory and batched rolls
  • Enter shipments in SAP, and verify. Maintain batch records.
  • Create batching report and share to management periodically
  • Serve as inspection batcher as needed.
  • Run the Leno and Catch cord machines, and refill the Leno bobbin stations
  • Run the leno and catch cord machines to make leno spools, leno bobbins and catch cord spools.
  • Collect empty leno bobbins and catch cord spools from the leno stations and refill them with full ones
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the leno area, leno stations and machines

Material handling duties

  • Assist other Inspection and Packer associates with manual and powered material handling.
  • Move rolls within the cloth room, weave floor and loading dock as instructed by management
  • Maintain equipment and anything else as instructed by management

Back-up duties

  • Cover the packer job as needed (shift will depend on business need). Will be expected to do this job on a regular cycle to keep skills fresh.
  • Manually wrap fabric for shipment based on customer requirements. The wrapping process involves using a saw to cut ends off cardboard tubes, and using a mallet to pound wrapping material and plugs it into the end of the tube. Must be able to use a saw to safely cut tubes and use a mallet to insert plugs and wrapping material multiple times per hour.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Transmit/receive in trucks in SAP
  • Prioritizes between graders bypass process department and incoming loads.
  • Maintain supermarkets
  • Transport and organize rolls, and then handle the eventual direct shipment.
  • Prepare greige and vertical shipments for multiple destinations.
  • Prepare direct shipments for multiple destinations.
  • Manage out-of-flow goods inventory.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Sycamore on incoming/outgoing trucks
  • Troubleshoot SAP errors
  • SAP Inventory Management
  • Manage indirect material inventory.
  • Orders trucks
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary as required.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to safely operate Forklifts, Hoists, Big Joes and safely move materials manually as needed.
  • Able to correctly identify read tickets, document, and make sure issues are addressed.
  • Strong computer skills, job management skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to move around job for entire shift.
  • Should be self-directed to the point of working with little to no supervision.

SKILLS – REQUIRED

  • Ability to read and write and follow directions

  • Moving: Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, and equipment, and to perform elements of the job. 95% of the day
  • Reaching/Lifting: Must be able to reach 48" to grasp wrapping material that has run out to attach to new when they have run out. infrequent Wrap fabric for shipment based on customer requirements.   • Must be able to lift supplies that may weigh up to 25 lbs. 25% of the day
  • Climbing: Must be able to mount the lift truck to load fabric which is 48" from the floor to the seat of the lift truck. 30% of the day
  • Push/Pull/Reach: Must have the ability to push against cloth rolls to start them down gravity-fed inclines which way up to 2100 lbs. 20% of the day
  • Bending: Must be able to bend and stoop to pick up plugs, trash, and other objects from the floor. 50% of the day
  • Walking: Ability to walk throughout the plant on a concrete surface. 60% of the day
  • Visual Acuity: To read and understand tickets, computer screens, or any written instructions. 80% of the day
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in the work area. Ability to work in high noise production environments and wear approved ear protection, safety glasses, and steel toes. This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. 100% of the day
  • Work Environment: Ability to follow a defined break schedule. Regular and predictable attendance. 100% of the day
  • Must have the ability to safely drive a powered vehicle.
