Position: Network Architect

Location: Kennesaw, GA - hybrid, 2 days in office 3 days remote

Details: permanent, $135,000 -145,000 plus bonus

Musts: have at least 8-10 years relevant experience, come from an MSP or VAR, have 2 mid-level vendor certifications and 1 expert level vendor certification (examples in job description).

What you'll own

· Lead medium to large network and security-centric projects

· Support more junior network engineering and security team members

· Provide escalation support for less senior network engineers

· Architect, design and deploy functional networks

· Govern and enforce network and security standards

· Mentor team members on technical issues

· Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. network access and intrusion prevention)

· Communicate with clients on status of deliverables

· Review and approve technical documentation

· Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability

What we're looking for

· 10+ years of experience working as a senior network engineer

· Experience leading medium size networking and security projects

· Mentoring skills - The ability to mentor team members on technical issues

· Firewalls and security – The ability to deploy and maintain firewalls and keep the network secure.

· Network administration and architecture – Experience with different types of networks and how they can be integrated into an existing system. Self-motivated to stay educated on new developments in networking practices.

· Programming languages – Proficient in general-purpose scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.

· Hardware and infrastructure – Knowledge of the major network hardware vendors and what products they offer.

· Analytical thinking and troubleshooting - The ability to solve problems within the network before and after they arise. Using analytical skills to understand where a problem is originating from, and a troubleshooting process to effectively solve the issue and prevent it from happening again.

· Customer relations and excellent communication skills - The ability to explain technical issues to non-technical individuals, and the ability to understand and build a relationship with clients.

· 2+ mid-level and 1 expert-level certification(s) from strategic vendors such as Extreme, Palo Alto, HPE, Cisco.

o Mid-level Examples: Palo Alto PCNSA, Extreme Certified Specialist, Aruba ACCP, ACMP.

o Expert-Level Examples: Cisco CCIE, Palo Alto PCNSE, Aruba ACCX/ACMX

· Expertise in core infrastructure services including:

o Switching – VLANs, STP, LACP, MLAG

o Routing – Static, OSPF, BGP, IEGRP

o Wireless – 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Captive Portal, Channel Management

o DHCP

o DNS

o 802.1x

o LLDP, SNMP, Syslog, ACLs

· Experience with 6 or more of the following skills:

o Design and Implementation of Extreme Networking Switching/Routing/Fabric

o Design and Implementation of Extreme Networking NAC/XMC

o Design and Implementation of Cisco Switching/Routing

o Firewall Migrations from SonicWall/ASA to Palo Alto/FortiGate

o Design and Implementation of Citrix NetScalers

o Greenfield and brownfield deployments of ASA, FortiGate, or Palo Alto Firewalls

o Design and Implementation of Controller-based Wireless Solutions from Cisco, Aruba, or Extreme

o Providing top level support for complex networking issues.

o Design and Implementation of SDWAN solutions from vendors such as VeloCloud, Silver Peak, Palo Alto, Citrix, etc.

o Design and implementation of 802.1x authentication both at a switching level and backend Microsoft PKI infrastructure

o Provide top level support for troubleshooting Networking, Firewall, or Load Balancer issues

o Design and implementation of monitoring solutions such as PRTG, LogicMonitor, or Solarwinds

o Perform in depth analysis of networking configurations and provide recommendations based on that analysis

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
