Alaska General Seafoods is looking for energetic, adventurous, hardworking people to join our team in beautiful Bristol Bay. Alaska General Seafoods is a salmon processing facility located off the Naknek River; home to the largest sockeye salmon run in the world. We process millions of pounds of salmon each season!


We require our employees to travel to Naknek, Alaska for 4-6 weeks in the summer from mid-June to the the first week of August. During peak season, work hours could be anywhere from 12-18 hours a day, 7 days a week. All those hours will add up for lots of overtime! However, work depends on the salmon season harvest and hours are not guaranteed. *If there are no fish, there is no work.* Pay: Starting Wage is at least $18.06/hr regular time, $27.09/hr overtime (and lots of overtime available!).


We provide round trip airfare from your closest metropolitan airport to King Salmon, AK and then a short bus trip to Naknek. Housing and meals are also provided at no cost to you. Not only can you make a good amount of money in a short period of time, you will have an experience to last a lifetime. This job is perfect for students who want to travel to Alaska and seek seasonal work or anyone looking for a new kind of adventure.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Offloading product from vessels
  • Sorting, butchering, cleaning, cutting, filleting, trimming, and boxing various seafood products
  • Inspecting product
  • Operating plant machinery, a forklift or pallet jack
  • Preparing packaging materials
  • Loading product, boxes, pallets, or carts of product into or out of freezers or refrigerated vans
  • Guiding product into automated machinery
  • Cleaning or sanitizing the work area

Qualified applicants must be:

  • 18+ years old.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willing and able to do this work, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Perform physical, standing work for up to 16 hours per day, seven days per week.
    • Possess visual acuity and tactile dexterity to perform processing tasks.
    • Process, touch, and be in close proximity of seafood products.
    • Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance.
    • Work in cold, wet, loud plants with strong seafood odors.
    • Live and work in remote areas with limited access to medical attention.
    • Work safely around moving machinery, forklifts, vehicles, and elevated walkways.
    • Follow verbal and/or written directions.
    • Use hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders repetitively.
    • Physically evacuate the area in a swift manner in case of an emergency.
    • Safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing to live and work with a culturally diverse workforce, sharing bunkhouse rooms and communal restrooms.

Important Considerations

This work can be hard, monotonous, and boring. Most cell phones do not work in remote areas of Alaska. For Example: GCI cell phones are the most reliable in Naknek, while T-Mobile and Verizon occasionally work. We also have limited WiFi connection.
