An Achievable Dream, Inc. operates programs to create a unique learning environment. Faculty and staff members of An Achievable Dream Certified Academy provide students with a well-rounded education using the “SAME” curriculum (Social, Academic, and Moral Education) along with extensive extracurricular, experiential, and cultural activities. Under the agreement, Henrico Schools provides basic curricula and staffing, student services, transportation, food service, and maintenance.
The mission of the An Achievable Dream Academy is to provide a unique challenging disciplined academic environment where students are motivated to exceed their own expectations in academic achievement and social progress and to instill in all children respect for themselves, respect for their adult leaders and respect for core human values by providing all children with a social academic, and moral education.
IMPORTANT: This position is for the 2023-24 school year.
The successful candidate will be required to provide direct professional, educational, career and general developmental counseling services to secondary school students. Applicant must have a Master's Degree in School Counseling to be an eligible candidate for this vacancy.
This is a Full-time assignment that will serve the needs of the students at the Achievable Dream Certified Academy at Oak Avenue Complex.
The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Counsels students on personal problems, careers, peer relationships, and attendance problems

Conducts small and large group guidance sessions

Maintains and updates student cumulative folders

Communicates with parents and agency representatives concerning student problems

Designs and implements behavior modification programs for students

Coordinates teacher and parent conferences as needed

Interprets test data and student records for parents and teachers

Plays a major role in Child Study activities

Daily attendance

Engaged and on task
-
Performs other duties as required
Applicant must have a post-graduate certification/licensure/endorsement in secondary school counseling by the Virginia Department of Education.
This vacancy is for the 2023-24 school year.
Start date for this assignment will be July 5, 2023
The academy operates on an extended day Mondays, Wednesdays (8.5 hours), 8 hours Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Important Contractual Hours Information:
Most Counselor positions within our division are based upon a 220-day contract length. However, due to the unique and expanded opportunities provided by this partnership, compensation will include a 231-day contract. In addition to the extended contract, there is also a supplemental contract for the extended day program at An Achievable Dream Certified Academy- $6440 (estimated) supplemental pay per year. A commitment to fulfill contractual obligations by working regular hours and extended hours (8:00am to 4:30pm) and select Saturday hours (8:30am to 12:30pm) is required.
Minimum annual starting salary: $58,483.81 (Masters)
*** NOTE: Salary is based on 2022-2023 fiscal budget as the fiscal plan for the 2023-2024 has not yet been finalized/approved.
