Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC (ICE) is one of the fastest-growing full-service transportation consulting and design firms in the Eastern US. We specialize in highways, bridges/structures, hydrology, and aviation design utilizing over 380 dedicated team members that take a results-driven approach to meeting the specific needs of our clients. We are currently looking for an experienced Inspector to join our North Carolina CEI Team.
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for performing assignments in assisting the Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.
  • Provide inspection services for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, structures, erosion, traffic, and other construction items as dictated by the project, complete reports, and forms as necessary, and perform other duties as directed by management and/or the client.
  • Review application materials including asphalt, concrete, and earthwork for acceptable materials and mix.
  • Ensure that materials meet project specifications.
  • Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
  • Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
  • Inspect and monitor traffic control and erosion control devices.
  • Perform accurate calculations and computations.
  • Complete advanced QC testing and document results.
  • Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
  • Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associate or BS Civil Engineering degree desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of NCDOT experience required.
  • Concrete Field Inspector Level I, Asphalt Roadway Level I, Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I, Nuclear Radiation Safety Certification, and Conventional Density Certification are required or must be obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder required.
  • Must have a safe driving record for the past 3 years and possess an active DMV license.
  • Able to use a smart device and proficient in Microsoft programs.
  • Above-average math and problem-solving skills are required.
Physical Demands
  • This position requires minimal lifting of up to forty pounds on an infrequent basis.
  • Hand and eye coordination adequate for computer data entry, operating surveying equipment, calculator, and concrete testing equipment.
  • Ability to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature.
  • Ability to visually examine construction materials and finished structures.
Expected Hours of Work
This position will be a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with some night and weekend work based on the project schedule.
