Position: Mentor/Chaperone Ebersole Credit Recovery Course

Location: Ebersole Center (located in Wayland, MI)

Starting Date: 2022-2023 School Year

Work Days: March 27-31, 2023. Spring Break Algebra IA Credit Recovery Course. Note that an overnight stay is required for the duration of the course.

Salary: $1000.00 Stipend ($250.00 per evening), no mileage as a bus is provided

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with high school age students from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, as well as different academic proficiency levels;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, fellow teachers, and other staff members;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use technology for teaching, communication, and data analysis; and
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mentor students attending a credit recovery course (located in Wayland, MI) to increase academic achievement and graduation rates;
  • Assist students in one-on-one or small group settings as they work to earn credit throughout the course;
  • Willingness to attend the overnight credit recovery course at the Ebersole Center (REQUIRED);
  • Work collaboratively with Ebersole staff to develop innovative academic learning opportunities;
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning environment that fosters successful social and academic experiences for students participating in the credit recovery course; and
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear;
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time;
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
  • Regularly required to use close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
