Southeastern Directions for Life is one of 11 Community Mental Health Centers in South Dakota dedicated to providing quality, professional services to keep our individuals, families, schools, workplaces, and communities emotionally strong and healthy. We serve children, adults, and families in Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook, and Turner Counties.
JOB SUMMARY: Southeastern Directions for Life is currently seeking a Mental Health Therapist who is self-motivated and committed to providing counseling to adults in an individual and group setting at our 5th Street location (Community Support Services). The Mental Health Therapist will also complete mental health and substance abuse assessments from various referral sources in the community. The position requires working knowledge of the therapeutic process including establishing therapeutic rapport, knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychological disorders, case conceptualization skills, and implementation of evidence-based practices.
Some evening work and light travel to area communities may be necessary to accommodate individuals. Services may be provided in the office, individuals' homes, or alternative locations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in a helping profession and a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or an Addiction Counselor in Training (ACT) working toward an LAC. LPC, LPC-MH, LCSW, LCSW-PIP preferred. Individual must demonstrate experience, skill, and competence in working with individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).
Must have a current driver's license, car insurance, and a driving record acceptable to Southeastern’s insurance provider. Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check to include fingerprinting, Dept. of Social Services Central Registry check, Motor Vehicle background check, and drug screening.
