JOB TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing a wide variety of individual, family, and group therapy; including but not limited to clinical assessment, treatment planning, collateral, crisis intervention, and advocacy services to families, children, and other clients in accordance with their specific therapeutic needs. The Mental Health Clinician has demonstrated expertise in addressing trauma and adults with serious mental illness (SMI), and individuals with Co-Occurring Disorders (COD).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and coordinate a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment, or referral of clients presenting mild, moderate to severe social or mental behavior problems.
2. Involves client and/or family in treatment planning as appropriate.
3. Provides a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment plan coordinating with other medical staff.
4. Complies with agency productivity standards and maintains an appropriate caseload to reach the weekly expectation of client contact and budgeted hours.
5. Continually assess the needs and symptoms of clients and families formulating psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate method(s) of providing treatment/evidence-based practice.

6. Provide services in the community or in the field consistent with program and funding source contractual requirements.

7. Maintain a client file to level of requirements mandated in agency policy and completes documentation in a timely manner.

8. Display sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic needs of the clients and families served.
9. Maintain professional relationship with clients, staff, and other outside stake holders at all times.
10. Meet Agency requirements regarding billing for reimbursable services; consistently provide services in keeping with all programmatic and contractual requirements.
11. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings to provide input towards program development and staff training.
12. Participate in weekly clinical supervision
13. Review and maintain audit ready standards and peer audit.
14. Provide psychotherapy, crisis intervention, case management, and referrals to appropriate resources.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
1. Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mariage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology is required.
2. In process of acquiring BBS certification required.
3. Experience working with dual diagnosed/co-occurring patients with both a substance use disorder and a mental illness.
4. Ability to provide education and information regarding HIV, substance abuse, and mental health services to clients, community members, and other organization members.
5. Bilingual in English and Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Experience and interpersonal skills working with culturally and socially diverse community groups who are underserved; including and not limited to the LGBTQ+ community.
7. Must have a reliable form of transportation as travel to different sites within LA county is required.

HOURS: 40 Hours - Some Weekends & Evenings required.
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt
SALARY: $28.50 - $33.50per hour commensurate with education and experience.

LOCATION: South Los Angeles - Must be willing to travel between BIENESTAR centers and within the county and/or surrounding areas. Must be willing to work evening hours and weekends if necessary.
