Compensation: $30 - $40 per hour

About the Job
Nexus HR Services is hiring a Mental Health Clinician for Soledad House. The Mental Health Clinician provides counseling and other therapeutic services for clients with drug and alcohol problems and co-occurring mental health symptoms or other behavioral problems, including screenings, assessments, treatment planning, counseling, education, service coordination, and referrals. The primary goal of the Mental Health Clinician is to help clients modify problematic behaviors with the intention of full recovery from alcohol and drug use and abuse and recovery from or management of mental health symptoms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work a 40 hours per week schedule
  • Work a set schedule that has been approved by the Clinical Director/Executive Director
  • Facilitate a minimum of 6-8 counseling and/or education groups per week according to program needs
  • Provide counseling and therapeutic services to 8-10 individual clients per week as part of a regular caseload
  • Provide intake assessments for incoming clients as scheduled
  • Conduct insurance utilization reviews for clients as scheduled
  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary meeting on Tuesdays from 2:20-4:00 PM
  • Meet with the Clinical Director at least once every two weeks to review client caseload and treatment progress
  • Provide no less than 2 weeks’ notice for extended time off to supervisor and administrative team to ensure proper coverage
  • May be asked to cover treatment groups or individual sessions or intake assessments or insurance utilization reviews when needed, such as when another counselor is absent or unavailable
  • May also provide case management services as needed to facilitate and ensure communication, linkage, and continuity of care between clients, physicians, administrators, and other organizational components, community resources and service providers
  • Conduct clinical evaluations of clients including screening and assessment
  • Develop client centered treatment plans with clients to provide direction for alcohol and drug treatment (primary) and management of co-occurring mental health symptoms
  • Provide individual counseling sessions to clients and family counseling sessions to current clients and their family members
  • Facilitate psychoeducational, skills-development and process group counseling sessions
  • Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours of all treatment intervention modalities including assessments, treatment plans, counseling sessions, crisis interventions, safety plans, and other client-related interactions in the KIPU electronic medical record software
  • Consult with and contribute to the design of treatment curriculum
  • Provide referrals to clients for internal or outside resources to aid in the implementation of a treatment plan
  • Provide clinical consultation with collateral contact resources, including family members, mentors, and others to help support clients in their recovery
  • Provide crisis intervention services when authorized and necessary
  • Participate in all assigned staff meetings, service coordination, staff development, and training as required
  • Participate in ongoing supervision and consultation with the clinical and program directors, as well as the administrative staff, to address client, agency, and job related issues
  • Adhere to established professional codes of ethics and standards, and federal and state laws and agency regulations regarding the treatment of substance use disorders

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Human Services (or) a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (and)
  • A current mental health provider license from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology (and)
  • A minimum of 1 year experience treating substance use disorders in a treatment or agency setting
  • Additional training and/or education in the treatment of substance use and in the treatment of mental health is a plus
  • Must be free of formal parole or probation status for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, and insured transportation
  • Work authorization

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
