Medical Scribe/Technician Job at Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates
Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates, Inc. is a privately-owned pediatric ophthalmology practice, with offices inside Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Downtown Columbus, Dublin, and Westerville. Our practice is seeking medical scribe candidates. Ideal candidates should have a basic working knowledge of medical terminology, be detail-oriented, capable of multi-tasking, be energetic and must enjoy working with children. The position requires a great deal of one-on-one interaction with physicians and patients so a professional bedside manner and appearance are vital.
Medical scribes at our practice are expected to document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly. Perform clerical tasks as needed including faxing, phone calls and referral letters. Comply with all legal and ethical requirements for medical documentation. Alert physician when the medical record is incomplete or medical documentation contains mistakes or inconsistencies.

This position has the potential to transition into an ophthalmic assistant. The primary role of the ophthalmic assistant is to prepare the patient for their visit with the physician, including but not limited to documentation and discussion of past and present illness of the patient, obtaining and recording various eye measurements, operating various ophthalmic testing devices, assisting in minor medical procedures and instilling eye drops.
