Role description

We are looking for a medical reviewer that’s comfortable fact checking health-related content. Our website is focused on hair science. You’ll be reviewing articles on dermatology, dermato-trichology, trichology, aesthetic treatments, mental health, and holistic health.

An MD or PhD is required. We prefer medical professionals with backgrounds in dermatology or dermato-trichology. We are also considering researchers actively publishing in these fields. Your name and title will be listed on reviewed articles.

We are a science-driven organization. We aim to provide honest, accurate information backed by research and clinical trials. Our ideal medical reviewer will be comfortable fact-checking and supporting our science writers as they break down complex subjects into easily digestible information.

About IHSA (The International Hair Science Association)

IHSA is a new organization focused on educating readers about hair science and hair loss. We intend to cover topics on all types of hair issues, from the most common hair loss condition (androgenic alopecia) to autoimmune conditions (like alopecia areata) and skin problems that lead to hair loss.

Our goal is to create a resource that’s useful for everyone – from older teenagers to doctors. This means that we’ll explain the basics of hair loss, hair loss disorders, and how medications work. We’ll also cover the latest hair loss research in an engaging way that’s easy to digest for both healthcare professionals and their patients.

Specific Responsibilities

• Review content that ranges between 1,000-4,000 words.
• Fact check content, making sure that the writer has not incorporated any incorrect information or misunderstood scientific articles being referenced.
• Fact check any quotes that have been incorporated into articles.
• Occasionally suggest visual assets, photo annotations or modifications, and/or infographics for our graphics lead to source or create.
• Work with our editor to leave constructive feedback for our writers. Our goal is to limit edits to two rounds per article (one round of edits and a final review).
• Suggest references when helpful (i.e., a particular study you feel is important to cite).

Location: IHSA is a remote organization

Starting date: January 2023
