  • Responsible for providing customer service to patients in person or by telephone.
  • Schedules appointments and collects required information and patient copays.
  • Monitors patient arrival and wait times, communicating delays and suggesting options as needed.
  • Assists with insurance and account questions as required.
  • May coordinate referral and authorization duties for medical care.
  • Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace.
  • Perform all frontline patient interaction.
  • As the first point of contact, schedule, cancel and reschedule appointments according to practice guidelines, consistently capturing essential information.
  • Facilitate appointment reminders.
  • Monitor patient arrival and wait times, communicating delays and suggesting options as needed.
  • Obtain patient registration information according to practice guidelines in an accurate manner.
  • Prepare all patient records according to practice guidelines in an accurate manner.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits and contractual agreements according to practice guidelines.
  • Complete referral authorization and/or surgery pre-authorization processes in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the resolution of insurance, benefit or contractual obligation issues.
  • Collect and document receipt of co-payments.
  • In accordance with cash management policy, balance the ledger and cash drawer at the end of the shift in an accurate manner.
  • Ensure all requirements are fulfilled in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Sort fax server in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace.
  • Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
  • Maintain availability to float to other departments as needed.

Education: High School graduate or GED required.

Experience/TrainingMinimum one (1) year healthcare experience preferred.

Other Qualifications: Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Superior customer services skills required. Must be proficient with an EMR. Must possess the ability to grasp new programs and concepts quickly. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime and weekend work).

Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week. Eligible employees also receive sick time pay.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Per diem

Pay: $19.13 - $27.78 per hour
