Position Overview
The Receptionist, under the direct supervision of the Practice Administrator/Manager, assists with receiving and assisting patients/visitors, receiving telephone calls, and organizing appointments. He/She helps to facilitate patient care by carrying out the Receptionist responsibilities in a professional, efficient, and accurate manner.

The Receptionist must be able to handle all matters in a confidential manner. He/She must display a pleasant demeanor and must work with people in a tactful, diplomatic manner. The Receptionist must have excellent communication skills; good computer skills; and exhibit professional telephone skills.

Education
High school graduate or equivalent required.

Certification
N/A

Experience
Experience working in a clerical/secretarial role in a healthcare-related setting preferred.

Physical Demand
Work is mainly sedentary: involves sitting most of the time with regular requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work may involve lifting charts and x-rays (15-20 lbs maximum).

Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard, copier, and 10-key. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.

Mental Demands
Must demonstrate communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Strong grasp of the English language, including professional written and oral communication skills and the proper use of grammar. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multi-task. Must have knowledge of office procedures and equipment.

Special Demands
Must have excellent telephone skills. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to work independently with minimal direction. Must be computer literate.
