Medical Collections Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist for our client in Denver, CO. This is a full-time, contract role with the potential to become permanent and is 100% onsite.

This role will be responsible focus on account receivables and will be ensuring the timely and accurate collection of outstanding balances from patients and insurance companies. The candidate will work closely with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to collect payment for medical services rendered.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient accounts and identify past due balances
  • Contact patients and insurance companies to collect payment for outstanding balances
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with patients and insurance companies
  • Update patient accounts with payment information
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date collection notes
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and payment issues
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to resolve billing and payment issues
  • Communicate with insurance companies to ensure timely payment of claims
  • Identify and report billing errors or discrepancies to management

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principals, ICD-9/10, medical billing and CPT coding procedures
  • Familiarity with medical insurance billing and reimbursement practices
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology and procedures
  • Must have experience with Medicare collections required

Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical collections or related experience required
  • 2 years of experience with government insurance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, required

Compensation

  • $20-24/hour, DOE
  • This is a 100% onsite work environment
  • Contract opportunity with the potential to become permanent after initial tenure
