The Medical Assistant provides standard nursing care to patients and assists the physicians in their assessment and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Nursing procedures to include: assisting physicians; screening patients; delivering injections and immunizations; various medical tests; treatment not requiring a physician
  • Laboratory procedures to include but not limited to: veni-punctures; CBC; hematocrits; sed rates; blood sugar; microscopic examinations; wet mounts; KOH and gram stains; EKG; prepare specimens for outside lab
  • Clerical and other tasks: clean and sterilize instruments; stock and clean examination rooms; prepare various forms such as insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid; log samples into appropriate manuals; assist in gathering statistics and demographics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the application of the technique and practices of nursing
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and equipment
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to maintain nursing records and charts
  • Ability to establish and maintain confidence and cooperation of patients
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Education, Experience, and Training

  • Graduate of an accredited program of medical assisting, laboratory technology, or licensed as an LPN or RN
  • 1+ years' experience working as a medical assistant or nurse, or completion of an approved internship

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.50 per hour
