The Medical Assistant will provide patients with information and healthcare services while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor. As well as supporting our providers in various clinical and administrative areas.

Status: Travel to multiple office location as needed , potential Full Time Hours: M-F, No weekend, No holidays

Medical Assistant Essential Functions:

  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
  • Prepares patients for examination by taking blood pressure, weight, and pulse.
  • Transmits physician's orders and answers patient questions about treatments.
  • Diligent in maintaining patient confidence by keeping patient information secure while ensuring completion of confidential medical records.
  • Retrieves necessary medical records from other facilities and primary care providers.
  • Completes accurate diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following the Americare Kidney standards and procedures as well as complying with all legal regulations.
  • Ensures supply inventory is stocked, places orders as needed and verifies receipt.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining certifications and staying proficient in eClinical Works.
  • Serves and protects the Nephrologist practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Travels to multiple office locations routinely
  • Flexibility in regards to work schedule
  • Performs various other tasks as assigned

Medical Assistant Skills and Qualifications: Certification required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Graduate of Medical Assisting Program.
  • Effective verbal communication
  • High level of professionalism
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience preferred.
  • Patient scheduling abilities
  • Infection control
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Maintain a high professional level of confidentiality
  • Dedicated team player who is dependable and willing to assist in any way possible
