Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, or spinal, to determine presence of normal or abnormal components
  • Collect biological specimens from patients
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis
  • Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into computer for storage
  • Follows established procedures and requirements set forth by the General Supervisor in each individual department.
  • Prepares departmental staffing schedules under the direction of the Director.
  • Trains and orients new employees, evaluates assigned personnel, recommends salary adjustment, terminations, etc., carries out disciplinary procedures.
  • Interviews new applicants, recommending for hire, transfer or promotion.
  • Reviews workload and guides staff in additional studies regarding problems related to correlation of test results and disease states.
  • Ensures that test are performed in a timely manner, particularly in STAT situations, coordinates timed test with nursing personnel and other departments.
  • Prepares Time and Attendance and other reports.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology
  • Certification by the ASCP Board of Registry/Board of Certification

Pay Range
$25.18-$36.52/ hour
