Design Engineer II

Seats Incorporated is seeking a Design Engineer with 5+ years of proven experience in a product design environment to join our team. Qualified individuals must possess strong mechanical aptitude and rigorously employ engineering principles to develop innovative seating products and solve challenging engineering problems. The Design Engineer will collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to develop products that meet our customer’s quality and durability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Establish project scope and manage project to meet customer requirements
  • Establish design performance requirements and conduct DFMEAs
  • Ideation of solutions to meet product specifications
  • Develop 3D models of sheet metal, injection molded and foam components
  • Develop 3D assemblies of new seat designs and sub-systems
  • Evaluate design performance using hand calculations & CAE tools (FEA, Fatigue and Vibration)
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Oversee prototype build of new components and assemblies
  • Develop and execute Design Verification Plan (DVP) to validate product performance.
  • Modify and revise designs for cost savings & product improvement
  • Research and develop new methods & tools to improve product and development process

Qualifications

Required:

  • B. S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience.
  • 5+ years of product development experience including:
    • Metal component design (ex. sheet metal, tube, machined, and welded)
  • Ability to interpret and create technical documents, drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team to meet required deadlines.
  • Proficient use of 3D CAD and CAE tools
  • Project Management

Preferred:

  • Injection molded component design
  • Vibration analysis
