SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, Basic to research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.


Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Design products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Plan and direct engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Three (3)+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering with respect to electronics enclosures/assemblies/chassis, to include:
    • Systems/Equipment Support
    • Test and Evaluation support of C4ISR requirements
  • Ability to perform the following:
    • Read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
    • Write presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
    • Make effective and persuasive arguments and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
    • Deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
    • Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory.
    • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
    • Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience with contractual related project/work environment, in providing engineering support to electronic maintenance and modification systems.
  • Experience in establishing processes/guidelines for electric design.
