As a Meat Cutter you will maintain desired level of fresh meat production and ensure product quality, freshness and selection to comply with safety and sanitation requirements set by the company and mandated by OSHA regulations. You will foster an environment of enthusiasm and provide exceptional customer service. You will engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques to increase sales. You will cut, grind, and wrap fresh meat products according to proper procedures to ensure product quantity, quality and freshness, and stock and rotate product. You will work with your department manager to prevents shrink and controls expenses. You will follow laws and company policy on weighing, labeling, code dating and the handling of reworked and reduced-to-clear items.

To be Meat Cutter you must having the following qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude are essential to interact with customers and employees
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 lbs.
  • Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Ability to do repetitious arm movements required to cut, slice and process meat products.
  • Must be able to operate related equipment including scales, knives, band saws, meat tenderizers, meat slicers, grinders, cubers, and pallet jacks
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities
  • Requires knowledge of basic math, and weights and measures
  • Occasional exposure to -20°F while handling product in freezer
  • Frequent exposure to 28°F while handling product in cooler.
  • Hands are frequently exposed to 30°F while handling product in the display cases
  • Requires the ability to work for prolonged periods of time in an environment with a temperature range of 40°F to 50°F
