Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Educational Theory and Practice in the College of Education at Montana State University Billings seeks a qualified candidate to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in math methods, foundations, and curriculum. Candidates should hold a masters degree in a field related to math or education and show evidence of the ability to work successfully with teachers, children, schools, and colleagues. The ability to teach courses both on campus and online is required. Candidates will engage in student advising and service to the college, university, and community. An active research and scholarship agenda is required. Typical load = 21` credit hours/AY; summer session with possible additional credit hours and additional compensation. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • A master’s Degree or higher in a field related to teacher education or mathematics
  • Experience in a P-12 setting
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusivity

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience teaching math methods or math in a P-12 setting
  • Higher education teaching experience in both online and face to face courses
  • Management skills for collaborative projects and partnerships

Responding to a plea from Montana citizens for an institution of higher education in central or eastern Montana, Eastern Montana State Normal School, was established March 12, 1927. Now, Montana State University Billings’ College of Education is recognized as the regional leader in the preparation of Literacy Specialists and Special Education teachers. The Teacher Education Program at Montana State University Billings is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the preparation of elementary and secondary teachers and school counselors. The Montana State Board of Public Education accredits the Teacher Education Program.
