Aktiv Pharma Group is a fast-growing company focused on addressing unmet medical needs through a proprietary drug delivery system. We are currently hiring for a Materials Engineer.

The Materials Engineer will develop, process, combine, and test materials to be used in production. Based on data gathered and expertise, the Materials Engineer will also identify and recommend the most appropriate materials for specific applications.

The compensation range for the Materials Engineer is $85,000 - $100,000 annually.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with appropriate production and process staff to understand the material specifications sought for a particular application or product.
  • Identifies, selects, and recommends materials based on mechanical, chemical, thermal, and barrier properties.
  • Measures performance of various materials in accordance with specifications.
  • Collaborates with our Chemistry team to evaluate chemical stability and compatibility of applied materials.
  • Observes or participates in product testing as appropriate.
  • When a material fails, gathers data and analyzes the reasons why the material did not meet specifications.
  • Communicates with material producers directly; identifies and communicates material needs and shortcomings
  • Collaborates with process engineers and outside vendors in the development of new material when none of the suggested materials meet specifications.
  • Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Job Qualifications

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of Aktiv Pharma Group’s mission, vision and values.
  • Understanding of Engineering analysis and concepts, engineering drawings, technical documentation, and math calculations.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering, product design, and plastic part design.
  • Experience in the application and characterization of polymer systems: chemical, mechanical, and thermal analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of barrier film fabrication and characterization.
  • Oral communication skills to be able to communicate with other engineers to explain the process for making a product, choice, or decision and for collaboratively critiquing a design and resolving problems.
  • Ability to recognize problems and take prompt action to resolve them.
  • Ability to analyze and assess a process or situation with a view to improving it.
  • Ability to handle different and specialized situations, ability to change direction quickly.
  • Ability to originate and develop complex ideas in new and undefined areas.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or Materials Science highly preferred; Master’s degree desirable.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in materials science/engineering with a focus on polymers.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
