Position Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for the execution of marketing strategies to support GESMN annual strategic plan goals. This position actively manages marketing team activities and interfaces with business partners across the organization to assess needs and deliver results. This includes but is not limited to implementing marketing/communications activities as they relate to advertising, promotional, social media and revenue producing projects. This position also uses insights and analytics to inform marketing activities, keeps team abreast of new tools and emerging platforms to enhance our efforts, and provides oversight to the Marketing & Communications Specialist roles that lead social media, employee communications, warehouse management activities and more.

A day in the life: In a typical day, a Marketing and Communications Manager can expect to...

  • Marketing & Communications Strategy: Collaborates with Marketing Director in plans, executing strategies for all areas of the organization. Actively listens to business partner needs and objectives; responds with solutions that address appropriate channels, timelines, budgets, and tactics to deliver on established goals.
  • Project Management: Manages input into marketing project management database and keeps projects on deadline.
  • Insights & Innovations: Works with two Specialist roles to ensure Google Analytics and AdWords are utilized, retail support and communications channels are in line with best practices and changing technology.

About You:

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Technical expertise in digital and printed collateral – including website, SMS messaging, search, printed collateral, signage, etc.
  • Understanding of messaging and best practices around collateral materials.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Adept at building and maintaining relationships, interacting with a diversity of perspectives.
  • Ability to link marketing activity to productivity, business results and metrics.
  • Effective track record in leading marketing initiatives and projects.
  • Excellent computer and project management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; Experience with marketing project management software or Excel a plus.
  • Experience marketing using social media tools like You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and Google +
    (open source website CMS experience a plus).

Prior Experience & Education:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience leading and managing Marketing efforts in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Minimum 2 years leading a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
