Job Brief

We are looking for a full time and part time Grocery Clerk to join our new specialty market team. A clerk helps customers find what they are looking for while shopping in the store while also acting as the first point of contact at the market by providing shoppers with information about products offered in the store, answering questions, and cashing out customers.

The Market Clerk’s responsibilities include maintaining a clean work environment, organizing food displays, and stocking shelves with products for customers to buy. The clerk also delivers a high level of customer service to shoppers while maintaining product knowledge and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

· Process customer orders and payments using Square PoS terminal

· Stock and replace products to avoid any damages

· Keep shelves fully stocked and fronted with fresh products

· Prepare store displays and ensure that products are accurately labeled

· Provide customers with consistent, high quality prepared foods

· Weigh, price and package foods per customer order

· Practice proper rotation and labeling of all products

Job Requirements

· Proven work experience as a Grocery Clerk or similar role

· Proven customer service or retail experience

· Great attention to detail

· Excellent communication and people skills

· Positive and supportive attitude

· Ability to work on a small team

· Self-motivated and works well with little supervision

· Familiarity with Square (or similar) PoS preferred

· Familiarity with using scales to weigh out products and print labels preferred

· Ability to use Excel and run reports preferred

We are a small (400 sq. ft) startup specialty market in West Warwick that specializes in European imported and locally made grocery products and prepared foods. We are looking to hire these two new positions ASAP. Compensation starts at $15+/hr commensurate with experience. Day shifts starting at 9AM, night shift starting at 4PM. Store hours will be Sun-Sat, 9AM-8PM.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
