In this position...

You will apply engineering principles in performing CAD layout support, manage the plant’s drawings, lead the asset management process, and drive savings through 3D printing technology and engineering projects.

What you'll do...

  • Use virtual tools, such as AutoCAD, Vault, TeamCenter, and Vismockup to evaluate the feasibility of designs for assembly and machining operations
  • Perform new or updated layout drawings to support plant engineering and maintenance projects
  • Be a knowledge resource for locating legacy drawings and prints
  • Advise plant team on layout standards to support Global Ford Production System and Manufacturing Engineering requirements (safety, ergonomics, flow, etc.)
  • Maintain Sterling Plant’s drawings in Ford’s Vault drawing management system
  • Support remainder of drawing migration from DMS to Vault
  • Support continuous improvement in drawing and drawing system integrity, including guiding plant engineering team on standards
  • Lead 3D printing program at the Sterling Plant. Oversee all 3D printer assets and supplies and ensure they are maintained.
  • Support Plant Engineering 3D printing projects through scanning, design (drawings), and prototyping efforts
  • Work with Plant tool room on 3D printing additional quantities of existing printable items
  • Train/Teach others on the 3D printing process. Ensure backups are trained and available.
  • Lead annual asset verification efforts, working with production engineering, maintenance, finance, and corporate asset teams
  • Lead document management process for asset transfers, disposals, etc.
  • Audits - act as Central Engineering lead for asset / MCRP audit process; provide documents and support for other plant audits (quality, safety, environmental, etc.)
  • Lead ad-hoc Plant Engineering assignments such as creating / ordering signs and displays, supporting office layout changes, etc.
  • Lead 6-Sigma / DMAIC projects, to support and document continuous improvement actions. Support other plant DMAIC projects
  • Create process and instruction sheets, documenting job-related standards and rolling out information to the plant team


You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 or more years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment (internship and coop experience will be considered)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field
  • Experience with powertrain manufacturing methods and systems
  • Familiar with part gaging systems
  • Familiar with dimensional control plans and process illustrations
  • Familiar with blueprint readings
  • AutoCAD experience
  • 3D CAD and 3D printing experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills
  • Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • DMAIC Project Methodology experience
  • TQM and Kaizen Methods

Salary Ranges from SG6-SG8.
