We are looking for an ambitious hands-on engineer to work with various Engineering teams and Production Technicians to improve our existing backend processes in the areas of improving stone quality, increasing throughput/reducing cost, and minimizing human intervention.

Responsibilities:

  • Our diamonds are grown in semiconductor style CVD reactors and then processed in our backend. Your primary responsibility would be to monitor and improve the backend processes which consist of AI driven optical characterizers, lasers machines, pick and place robots, H2 furnaces, CMMs, and various annealing ovens.
  • Analyzing operational data and production metrics from the manufacturing databases and monitoring for trends or excursions. In particular identifying parameters and trends that correlate with product quality.
  • Working with the software developers to create reports and online visualizations for engineers and management.
  • Generate creative ideas for improvements and work with the Production/Engineering Teams to test them out.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for product volume, quality, environmental quality, and employee safety.
  • Help troubleshoot and fix backend production line issues from minor issues to major issues.

Requirements:

  • BS or higher in an applicable STEM field.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience as a manufacturing or process engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Just as comfortable being hands-on on the manufacturing floor as sitting at a computer.
  • Proficient with JMP and writing SQL queries.
  • Equally proficient in working with cross functional teams and being a sole contributor.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing related quality processes such as Process Control Charts, Cpk, and Gage R&R.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and typical tools such as 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, and Cause/Effect..
  • Experience with a formal problem solving methodology such as 8D or A3.
  • Quality related experience is a plus.
  • Technical documentation writing experience is a plus.
Typical salary ranges for this position is $90k - $125k +, position is eligible for company shares. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s job duties, experience, and expertise. We will also consider higher level candidates and salary will be adjusted accordingly.
