The Role

As Manufacturing Engineer you will develop, promote, and drive the execution of the continuous improvement program through automation initiatives. You will work in partnership with Continuous Improvement, external automation companies, and the US Industrial Lab Network (i.e., optical labs in Dallas, Baltimore, Columbus and St. Cloud, Minnesota) to design and implement automation to improve and streamline processes, improve quality and safety, and reduce overall labor costs. Additionally, as Manufacturing Engineer, you will partner with Quality, LOFT, GE, and Production teams, as needed, to coordinate and implement changes in processes within a culture focused on operational excellence and standardization implementation across the labs.

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Automation Engineer opportunity, you will have:

  • Engineering degree, ideally in Manufacturing, with a focus on automation or other relevant field
  • 3-5 years of experience in automation (light) deployment in a manufacturing and/or optical environment desired
  • Excellent, proven interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate, facilitate and negotiate at all organizational levels nationally and internationally.
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through the successful implementation of manufacturing methods and processes
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to travel 25-50% depending on projects (travel may ebb and flow)
