The Scrum Master will be responsible for leading multiple scrum teams through all Agile development processes and will use defined metrics to report on and to improve the productivity, communication, and accuracy of work. This role will be a strong process advocate with the skills to manage prioritization, fulfill commitments, and control changes. Additionally, this role will use retrospectives and reviews to identify knowledge and execution gaps and will provide appropriate guidance and training to correct.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Overall: Use agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions. Guide and coach the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Drive Process: Determine and manage tasks, issues, risks, and action items across multiple clients and dynamic priorities. Support the team in addressing and eliminating impediments to improve the likelihood of achieving the objectives of the Iteration.
  • Communication: Plan and organize demos and product/system testing. Prepare and present status reports to stakeholders. Communicate across teams to improve planning and prevent disruptions.
  • Process/Tools: Use Jira to facilitate and support all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Use lessons learned to improve future sprints. Be Scrum Master for 2 to 3 scrum teams at any given time.
  • Metrics and Analysis: Provide Quality Assurance reviews on individual scrum team processes and activities (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups, metrics, sprint deliverables, velocity, and entry and exit criteria). Track project processes, deliverables, and financials. Train the team on the value, usage, and interpretation of metrics.
  • Professional Development: Increase the performance level of the team by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field preferred.
  • 5 years of IT experience in Engineering, Project Management, Business Analysis, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience as a scrum master or in a similar role.
  • 2+ years of experience using Jira for project and issue tracking
  • Solid communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e., Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices.
  • Experienced facilitator able to apply various techniques to ensure effective meetings, both co-located and distributed.
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
