Position Title: Manager, Reliability Engineering (Engineering, Reliability and Automation Organization)

Location: Atlanta, GA

We are looking for a Manager of Reliability Engineering will be responsible to develop a strategic asset management policy and plan across the organization. Reliability Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing programs, methods and tools that improve asset performance across the organization safely delivering maximum uptime at the lowest possible costs. A key aspect will be the consolidation of existing site standards into an organization wide approach. Help to create unified Reliability standards and policies that conform to global, national, and local governmental regulations for sites. The role will partner with sites and other engineering disciplines to develop a strategic view to support Newell’s vision to leverage best in class technologies for Reliability such as precision installation and condition monitoring. This includes developing the policies defining best practice and helping to deploy those programs for Reliability across our asset base. The role will build an overall framework and partner with the sites to help lead the reliability program. Also, this individual will match solutions to needs through the application of appropriate technologies for custom or standardized initiatives. The role will also support our deployment of early equipment management techniques to ensure vertical start up for advanced initiatives and new systems.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Review site level policies procedures to optimize maintenance program in a more harmonized way; develop improvement strategies to decrease asset downtime
  • Establish cascading reliability based KPI’s with targets for the organizations asset base, cascade maintenance procedures and policies to ensure standardization
  • Individual will provide leadership and guidance to the Asset Management and Reliability Teams on methods, maintenance and control of processes and systems
  • Participate as a key stakeholder in the development of the Technical Training Program
  • Quantify and communicate total economic impact of reliability. Use measures to drive performance and evaluate progress.
  • Originates and develops analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment, and processes. Acquires and analyzes data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements. Conducts an analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for the situation, with consideration given to cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and weight, size and availability of materials/equipment.
  • Identify and execute transformational projects in conjunction with supply chain teams for Reliability systems, process, and best practices.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies for Newell for reliability applications
  • Develop vendor partnerships and common solutions for rapid reapplication opportunities.
  • Support our sites with the deployment of the Strategic Asset Management Policy and direct some aspects of the Reliability Plan
  • Ensure all Reliability engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are executed in conformance with Newell Brands established policies and objectives
  • Define the data collection and analytics practices for identifying opportunities, measuring progress, and ensuring controls are in place after implementation.
  • Propose and trial new methods / processes with the goal of replicating best practices across all applicable operations
  • Provide guidance and professional development to engineers.
  • Coach sites and teams on reliability best practices such as precision maintenance, precision installation, data analysis, asset life cycle analysis
  • Help deploy the early equipment program for to ensure the reliability of systems at sites
  • Build a network of practitioners for Reliability best practices.

The Candidate

Key Qualifications:

  • BSME, BSIE or University degree, MBA preferred.
  • 5-7+ years relevant experience in Reliability systems engineering with a proven track record of delivering value in manufacturing and/or logistics.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Strong character – ability to champion the right decision in difficult situations.
  • Demonstrated track record of effectively building partnerships and managing and resolving challenges.
  • Intermediate level skills developing analysis in Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with and connect with all levels of employees.
  • Strong planning & organizing skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • Initiative & follow-up, including a strong sense of autonomy.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to factory and distribution center locations across the US and with a possibility of Internationally.
