Defibtech is seeking a Product Development Manager, AEDs responsible for leading product development projects and initiatives for Defibtech’s Automated External Defibrillator product line(s). As a member of the Research and Development team, this role will be responsible for functional management and leadership of a multi-discipline product development team, along with planning and execution of design and development projects for complex electromechanical medical devices. We are seeking a local candidate based out of our headquarters in Guilford, CT. This role is hybrid remote capable.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Leads a cross-functional product development team in the design and development of defibrillation and resuscitation medical devices.
  • Interfaces with quality, regulatory, manufacturing, service, and project management organizations for project execution.
  • Ensures execution of formal product realization processes for design and change control within the quality management system.
  • Maintains current state-of-the-art processes and tools for development and maintenance of engineering design outputs from mechanical, software, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Plans and allocates resources across new product development and sustaining projects by reviewing project priorities, business demands staffing allocation and workloads.
  • Coaches and mentors team members to grow and maintains technical capabilities and leadership behaviors.
  • Provides leadership, oversight, and supervision for assigned team.
  • Provides leadership and communicates to create an environment that fosters engagement.
  • Provides constructive and timely coaching and feedback to support a learning culture.
  • Supervises and manages employees in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.
  • Demonstrates Defibtech’s values on the job by focusing actions on Integrity, Passion, Ownership, and Innovation. Promotes and participates in continuous improvement.
  • Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, safety regulations and applicable statutes).

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical engineering discipline, such as electrical, mechanical, or software engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience and responsibilities in technical product development.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical project teams for new product development.
  • Experience with medical device development in an FDA regulated industry is required.
  • Experience with product development that incorporates embedded and application software.
  • Understanding of systems engineering tools and process, such as requirements capture and traceability.
  • Experience with mechanical design, electrical design, and product lifecycle configuration management.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members as well as creating career development plans.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Primary setting is an office environment, with frequent work in R&D lab and manufacturing floor.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary (<5%)
  • Sedentary work with frequent sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing and short durations of walking throughout location(s)and lifting up to 10lbs.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20lbs; frequent walking/standing.
