JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The HR Manager is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks relative to the Human Resources Department and in support of the President and Board of Directors. HR Manager duties include setting a positive and professional employer atmosphere and culture, acquiring talent, positioning the company as a preferred employer, oversight of applicable employment laws and administration of employee benefit programs.

  • Develops and administers various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises, as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Manages various benefits programs and vendors. Brings new products and benefits relationships to CEO and Board. Performs tasks, duties, and oversight for benefits providers.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Proactively maintains employee moral and healthy work-place environment.
  • Perform other projects and special assignments as required.

Performance Measurements

  • Maintains basic working knowledge of MMS’s products and services.
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and helpful relationship with all staff and members.
  • Stays well informed regarding all human resources developments with payroll, benefits, and employment law.
  • Performs all essential job functions and responsibilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Observes all MMS guidelines and policies.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Performs all other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred or industry experience equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of Human Resource Management experience.
  • Must successfully demonstrate a high attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully maintain confidentiality.
  • Persuasive and professional oral and written communication skill
  • Ability to work in stressful, high pressure situations.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Confidentiality is of upmost importance for this position.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach. Light to moderate lifting is occasionally required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
