Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Information Technology group. We are looking for a Manager, IT Infrastructure to manage the operating systems, hardware and OS software platforms for the Refineries, Pipeline and Terminals (RPT) business. This position will be a part of the IT Infrastructure team officed out of the McPherson Refinery. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven leader with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential. To be considered, qualified candidates must live in the McPherson/Wichita, KS surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee the work of assigned staff and contractors; supervise, evaluate, and provide performance feedback; establish performance requirements and personal development targets; monitor staff performance and provide coaching for performance improvement and development; recommends disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies in accordance with personnel policies and provisions.
  • Supervise and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, policies, systems and procedures to achieve long-range and annual goals, objectives and work standards.
  • Oversee infrastructure projects; develop technical project feasibility and scope of work project boundaries, detailed project plans, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate the design, installation, maintenance, and support of an effective, reliable interoperating infrastructure; forecast requirement and perform capacity planning.
  • Supervise and participate in department / enterprise disaster recovery planning and systems and data security administration.
  • Monitor operations and performance; ensure timely and effective problem identification and resolution; investigate and resolve escalated customer concerns and complaints; supervise the development of system, network, and customer documentation.
  • Coordinate and integrate project activities with other IS units and divisions; organize and coordinate activities across multiple customer groups.
  • Prepare roadmaps and budget for hardware and software lifecycle planning, including recommendations on the purchase and upgrade of network, telephony, server hardware and software, and end user compute environment to comply with corporate standards.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology Management, or related field (or equivalent years of experience, education and training)
  • 4+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure to include:
    • Design and installation of information systems and hardware, including operating systems, telephony platforms and network infrastructure
    • Expertise with operating system architectures, characteristics, components, uses and limitations
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership and/or supervisory capacity to include demonstrated experience applying principles, practices and techniques to IT employees and contractor resources

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of technical requirements for a multi-data center environment with remote locations
  • Understanding of ITSM processes (Incident, Request, Change)
  • Understanding of capabilities of system monitoring tools, metrics and measurements of systems
  • Experience upgrading, patching, performance monitoring, connectivity, and backup/recovery server and workstation systems
  • Experience with core technologies or platforms (MS Windows Server, Cisco) in a complex enterprise environment
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware)
  • Experience with LAN and WAN network technologies
  • Solid understanding of network segmentation and DMZ implementations
  • Experience working with Firewalls (Palo Alto)
  • Cisco certification: CCNA, CCNP

Physical Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional work hours on occasion
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
