Purpose of the role: Manager of Hospital EMR Specialty Applications. Inpatient EMR, basic understanding of application configuration, HL7 integration, API integration, and ADT experience are highly desirable for this position.

The Application Manager’s role is to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the direct reports, including the scheduling of routine work, scheduled maintenance, and the estimation and prioritization of work assignments to meet the required service delivery. This individual will perform leadership functions on a team, including mentoring of team members, keeping deadlines and deliverables on track, dissemination of pertinent information to the team, and escalation to Senior Leadership as needed.

The Hospital EMR Specialty Applications team is comprised of several configuration analysts who support Sunrise Clinical OB module, and Centricity Perinatal applications (CPN), CertaScan for infant footprint scanning, Triton Gauss, MyAvatar, Smart2k, as well as a few other OB and BH related applications. The team works closely with other clinical application teams such as ClinDoc, ED, Laboratory, Blood Bank, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Informatics and possess understanding of the overall acute care hospital and Behavioral Health Ambulatory workflows. The manager will be responsible for overseeing the work and staff, customizations made to the EMR related to Specialty Applications, OB, and Behavioral Health as well as the Third-Party applications, subject to change based on business needs.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide effective and efficient applications support IT services which meet the needs and requirements of client hospital/health system.
  • Effective management of the client relationship and resolution of client issues.
  • Continuous risk identification and appropriate escalation.
  • Resource Management - effective utilization and management of staff such that milestones/goals are met.
  • Mentor and motivate staff.
  • Understands application and technical functionality and capabilities to effectively guide staff in providing solutions for business requirements.
  • Balances demand management for multiple complex simultaneous projects, operational enhancements, break-fix, and maintenance requests.
  • Provides strategic guidance for planning projects and operational support for health system initiatives.
  • Ensure team adherence to all team, account, and client policies and procedures
  • Support business needs across a complex healthcare setting.
  • Manages complex implementations and post implementation optimization across hospital/heath system network.
  • Assists with scoping of projects and ensures scope creep is kept to a minimum.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Assists teams with effectively translating business requirements to technical specifications / IT requirements
  • Work with senior managers to develop strategy and resource plans to anticipate demand for implementation services and workforce needs.
  • Research and recommends new technologies to streamline processes supporting improved care and reducing costs
  • Develops and implements policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide Production support for planned and unplanned application outages on a rotating basis (may be after business hours).

Specific Requirements

Academic and professional qualifications

  • BA or BS Degree, and/or relevant business experience

Experience

  • 5-7 years industry IT/Healthcare/EMR experience preferred
  • 2 years of team management experience, preferred
  • Obstetrics and Perinatal experience desired
  • Behavioral Health application experience desired

Travel requirements

  • May require local travel
  • May require other travel for business needs

Working arrangements

  • Requires after hours on call support
