THE DISTRICT
Carmichael Recreation and Park District is a dependent special
district established in 1945, located 15 miles northeast of Sacra-
mento. The District population is approximately 42,408 and has
a budget of approximately $7+ million for Fiscal Year 22-23. There
are 13 park sites, total of 178 acres, including 11 developed parks,
a large community center, a botanical garden, community garden,
and a 17 acre nature area.

THE POSITION
Under general guidance of the Park Services Manager, performs a wide variety of semi-skilled maintenance, construction,
renovation, and remodel work on buildings and other District facilities in the development of park areas and repair of me-
chanical systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces, athletic courts, play equipment, parking lots, and light poles.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, trenchers, and other power driven equipment.
  • Rough and finish carpentry; construction activities.
  • Assist in welding, plumbing, electrical or concrete work and maintenance activities.
  • Clean and maintain common tools and equipment used in the performance of work.
  • Assure the protection of surrounding areas and proper adjustment of ladders, scaffolds and aerial lifts.
  • Assist in moving furniture and setting up equipment for special events.
  • Assist in servicing and repairing HVAC systems.
  • Other related duties may also be performed.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Methods and techniques used in electrical, plumbing and carpentry repair.
  • Painting methods, techniques & equipment including brushes, rollers and sprayers; various types of paint commonly

used in commercial applications.

  • HVAC equipment service requirements.
  • Welding equipment service requirements.
  • Safety policies and procedures.

SKILL IN:

  • Operating common tools and equipment used in building construction and maintenance.
  • Mixing and applying paint. General building construction & mechanical repair..

ABILITY TO:

  • Perform the physical requirements commonly associated with building and construction

maintenance.

  • Ability to use manual and power tools associated with building & construction mainte-

nance.

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course

of work.EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge
and abilities.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be one (1) year experience in a
comparable position at another public agency or property management company maintaining
large building complexes.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid California Class C License, a good driving record, and the ability to be
covered by the District’s vehicle insurance policy.
Requires regular predictable attendance.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Monthly salary: $3766- $4577
