Maintenance Technician

Summary/Objective:

$26.00-$28.00/hr

The Handyman Technician will support the Special Services Manager at various sites and perform a wide variety of duties that would be typical of a "Handyman". These include moving furniture, equipment or other items, in addition to repairs of walls & doors, painting, changing of light bulbs/fixtures, replacing ceiling tiles, power washing, minor plumbing & electrical, and other routine maintenance duties. In some cases, the Handyman Technician will review work assignments with the Special Services Manager or other members of management. The Handyman Technician will assist with determining the project needs and supplies. The Handyman Technician must be flexible and willing to complete all assigned tasks.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure all duties performed and equipment used are in conformity with Safety and OSHA standards.
2. Perform repairs to include minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting & general maintenance at various customer worksites at the direction on the Special Services Manager.
3. Expedite all "urgent" work orders to completion including follow-up to assure customer’s satisfaction.
4. Maintain the integrity of the Work Order/Preventative Maintenance system. This includes timely input and updating the system on assignments, status, action taken and timesheet information. Communicate status of work orders with the customer and Special Services Manager.
5. Ensure work is completed in a professional manner according to scope of work, contract guidelines and completes proper follow up inspections.
6. Other routine maintenance duties as assigned by management, including seasonal cleaning and grounds maintenance.

9. Operation of electrical and manual hand tools (i.e. saws, drills, sanders, screw drivers, sockets, wrenches)
10. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

This position operates in several professional environments. This role routinely uses commercial cleaning equipment, such vacuums, buffers, extractors, scrubber, in addition to standard handyman tools such as hammers, hand tools, drills etc.

Physical Demands

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May also be required to wear a hip/backpack vacuum. The employee may also perform repetitive bending and lifting actions, in addition to repetitive arm movements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full time, hours of work and days are contingent upon hours in which designated customer needs exist.

Travel
This position requires travel to various customer locations.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a General Handyman required, janitorial/commercial cleaning industry preferred.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be authorized to work in the United States and its territories.
