Position Description

Responsible for the repair or maintenance of machines, equipment, plumbing, electrical, heating or air-conditioning systems to ensure optimal production.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for keeping a structure or building in working order through maintenance and repairs.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain functional parts of mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions.
  • Operate equipment to test its functioning.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment is performing at optimal levels.
  • Perform repairs on equipment when necessary.
  • Position requires versatile skills to include pipe fitting, insulating, boiler making, welding, carpentry, machining, repairing electrical or other mechanical equipment, installing new equipment, and repairs.
  • Equipment may include:
  • Distributed Control System (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Successful candidate must have the ability to operator equipment, understand key variables that influence raw material yields, quality, and reliability, and perform simple maintenance
  • Prior manufacturing/production experience is a plus.
  • May have several tasks in a single day at a number of locations, both indoor and outdoor, or may work within one building
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude and ability knowledge of:
  • Common machine components
  • Sources of machine failures
  • Inspection techniques
  • Services and adjustments
  • Assembly and installation
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Pumping system skills

Essential Physical Job Functions

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment consisting of a hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves.
  • Thompson s working conditions expose our workers to changes in temperature and humidity.
  • All employees must be able to walk from the parking lot to their assigned work area. The distance is approximately 100-225 yards.
  • Must be able to work a schedule of five 8-10 hour days per week or more as required.
  • Lifts and carries equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. when setting up or breaking down a job;
  • Walk across uneven surfaces as required to perform the task
  • Climb without assistance, stairs/ladders/platforms & scaffolding;
  • Work safely in environments that are noisy; utilizing Hearing Protection and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • May be required upon training to operate Scissor Lift or Boom Lift to reach elevated areas
  • May be required to do any of the following tasks in the table on the next page during a single days work:
