JOB SUMMARY:
Performs duties as plumber, painter, carpenter, or electrician, in a professional manner, to provide for the safety and maintenance of Center’s buildings and grounds.


Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS)
center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.Devereux Advanced

Qualifications:
Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.

EDUCATION
: Trade, high school diploma or GED required and at least one year of specialized training.

EXPERIENCE:
  • As least four years relevant experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Requires computer skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license must be maintained.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly requires walking, standing, and stooping/bending (1/2-3/4 of the work day).
  • Requires ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Requires lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing/pulling and repetitive wrist/hand motion (1/4-1/2 of the work day).
  • Seldom requires sitting (0-1/4 of the work day).
  • Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with co-workers and stakeholders in person and via telephone.
  • Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or
    other chemical substances or controlled substances.
  • Often drives a Devereux vehicle or van. Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated and works outside. Some fluctuation in temperature.
  • Regularly works in wet conditions
