Position Overview:
Novelis – Guthrie, KY is seeking a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join Novelis for our recently announced expansion/greenfield start-up Recycle Center in Guthrie, KY. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient execution that optimizes plant equipment performance and availability. The incumbent must continuously assess planning efficiency to identify improvements to process resources, equipment, and maintenance reliability. This position must optimally prepare maintenance work packages to improve workforce productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, machine time, and labor. This position will be responsible for using and coordinating the CMMS program (SAP) for the site. The incumbent will be the liaison and coordination between the production and maintenance organizations. The incumbent must keep appropriate records and files to permit relevant analysis and reporting of results or work done and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This position works closely with Maintenance Technicians to improve reliability and ensure employee safety while enhancing labor efforts and minimizing costs.

  • Industrial Manufacturing Mechanical/Electrical background vital and tech school background desired.
  • Possess adequate maintenance knowledge to estimate labor and materials and visualize the scheduled job task.
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical shop drawings.
  • Understand the proper use of work orders, priorities, scheduling, etc.
  • Orientation and commitment to customer service.
  • Provide support in obtaining driven quotations and writing requisitions in SAP for parts and services.
  • Manage and control costs associated with work projects.
  • Direct outside contractors in the completion of projects.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed in the work orders.
  • Write and review specifications and prepare cost estimates and capital requests for new equipment.
  • Investigate equipment operation, breakdown, or failure problems to determine cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist with Reliability and Predictive Maintenance programs.
  • Ability to understand what constitutes good work instructions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of an HS Diploma or GED.
  • Have excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Requires a proven experience of 5 years in maintenance planning, scheduling, and associated work.
  • Must possess leadership skills to lead and develop other personnel to accomplish plant and corporate objectives.
  • Good administrative and mathematical skills with the willingness to handle the paperwork
  • Personal traits should include applying human relations skills to empower, train, understand, and develop others to attain objectives.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload; able to handle multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to take the initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs, and encouraging a collaborative relationship.
  • Must work successfully without close supervision
  • Must demonstrate advanced digital literacy
  • Experience with 3rd party CMMS programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP proficiency
  • Previous Maintenance Planning Experience
  • Knowledge of Metal Sheet Processing Equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA PSM (Process Safety Management)
