POSITION: Maintenance Coordinator

SUPERVISOR: Office Manager / Corps Officers

STATUS: Temporary Full Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

PAY: $18.00

OVERVIEW:

The role of the Maintenance position is to keep the facility, inside and out, and vehicles clean and organized.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Follow cleaning regiment as established by the Center Director
  • Keep the facility clean and organized, including but not limited to:
    • Eliminating any safety hazards
    • Vacuuming & Sweeping
    • Cleaning bathrooms
    • Emptying trash & recycle receptacles
    • Washing windows
    • Cleaning and organizing storage areas as needed
    • Dusting
    • Moping/ Washing floors
    • Cleaning carpets
    • Cleaning tables, chairs, and other furnishings as necessary
  • Keep Corps vehicles clean and ready for use, including:
    • Taking them in for regular oil changes
    • Monitoring the state of the breaks and tires
    • Washing the exteriors
    • Cleaning and vacuuming the interiors
    • Keeping gas in the tanks
    • Maintain a monthly log of beginning and ending milage for each corps vehicle for monthly DHQ report
  • Set up tables, chairs, and other items in preparation for programs and events that are being held on The Salvation Army of Helena Corps premises
  • Monitor/ Supervise volunteers assigned to maintenance and janitorial duties
  • Check in on gym rental / participants as needed
  • Monitor all facility
  • Keep inventory of janitorial supplies and communicate with appropriate personal when items are needed
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and conferences as recommended and approved by commanding Officer
  • Follow all fiscal and financial policies and procedures implemented by the Salvation Army of Helena
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other Corps personnel.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job

GENERAL NOTES AND PRECAUTIONS:

  • Use proper methods when lifting. If an item is too heavy, get help
  • When working with volunteers, clear communication and tactful supervision is required
  • All vandalism or building damage must be reported to Supervisor or Commanding Officer
  • Any injuries must be reported immediately to Supervisor or Commanding Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no record of DUI or DWI offense
  • Ability to work with limited or no supervision
  • Ability to work with other staff members and volunteers a must
  • Ability to speak English fluently to communicate with volunteers and clients
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills
  • Must be a team-player
  • Must be goal-oriented and self-motivated
  • Capable of maintaining high level of integrity
  • Have a working knowledge of The Salvation Army mission or willingness to learn it
  • An understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, and practices
  • Ability to work within the organization and carry out its policies and procedures
  • Have good people skills and a friendly demeanor
  • Have a clean criminal background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, pallet jacks, boxes, crates, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone, desktop or laptop computer, including ability to access and produce information form a computer and cell phone
  • Ability to understand, use, and respond to written and verbal information
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
