Whether it’s setting up an event, fixing a broken door handle, or refilling the cleaning solution mixing station the Maintenance Associate at Seattle Humane keeps the lights on so staff can complete life saving work for pets and their people! As a Maintenance Associate, you’ll perform daily maintenance and janitorial work in a state-of-the-art animal welfare building with a companion animal shelter, veterinary clinic, walking trails, and public spaces.

What is the Jobs and Housing Program?


Seattle Humane has partnered with King County to offer people experiencing housing instability or homelessness full-time jobs and on-the-job support while the county works to help participants find permanent housing. The Maintenance Associate position is grant funded through April 2024. At which time, Seattle Humane will need to reapply for the position to continue to remain filled.

Staff who are part of the program receive job career coaching and case management services through Neighborhood House. King County provides additional funding and resources like an ORCA card, cell phone, and other items upon request. They also provide housing assistance to eligible participants.


Compensation/Schedule


This is a full-time position with an average of 40 hours per week, has flexible workdays and requires some weekend availability. This position pays $22 per hour, is paid bi-weekly and runs through April of 2024 with potential for continuing employment with renewal of grant funding.
