Job Description
As a Maintenance Assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Responsible for the upkeep of the facility, building, building systems, and grounds. You will play a key role in the safety program for the facility. You will work with the Supervisor of Maintenance Department and Environmental Services. This job description does not list all the duties of the job. You may be asked by the supervisors or managers to perform other duties. You will be evaluated in part based upon your performance of the tasks listed in this job description at any time. You will follow all established departmental policies and procedures. Participate in weekly inspections of all maintenance functions to ensure that quality control measures are continually maintained. Be prepared to handle emergencies as they come up (i.e., rescheduling maintenance work schedules, etc.). Be sure that appropriate medical waste is disposed of in accordance with our facility's established procedures. Experience
Must have as a minimum, three (3) years of experience in a nursing home setting and a maintenance/plant related position.
Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
Must possess the ability to identify and schedule assigned tasks.
