Position Summary

Sets up and operates sheeting machine equipped with rotary blades to cut rolls of material, such as paperboard, into sheets, according to job specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Operate clamp truck to move paperboard rolls from warehouse to sheeter area
• Unwrap rolls and prepare rolls for loading onto roll stand
• Readjusts machine to ensure specified dimensions of sheet according to job specifications
• Inserts chucks into core of one or more rolls and raises and positions roll on cutter rack, using hoist
• Threads ends of material through feed and decurl rollers, under cutting blades, and aligns material against machine guides
• Starts counting device, conveyor belt, or raises platform (bearing pallet)
• Observes operation of machine to detect malfunctions, such as jamming, wrinkling, or tearing of material
• Stops machine to make required adjustments
• Perform and document quality and production level inspections as the job is producing
• Informs Maintenance if blades need sharpening or replacing
• Reads work order to determine dimensions of sheets to be cut and fills out Production Report
• Knowledgeable in starting machine and verifying size of cut material, using tape measure
• Inspects sheets periodically with Lansco Angle light to detect any defects in the sheet
• Uses propane torch to singe sides of load to minimize paper dust getting into printing presses
• Uses manual pallet jack to move pallets of paperboard
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures

Skills & Abilities

• Good English communication skills
• Ability to read and understand fractions and decimals in order to set machine dimensions properly
• Understands the technical aspects of the machinery in order to adjust the air jets, hardware, slitters, jogger plates, and belts
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to read and understand a production schedule
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently

Experience

• Minimum High School diploma, can be trained on the job

Equipment

• clamp truck, forklift, pallet jack, propane torch

Physical Requirements

• Lifting from floor to waist up to 25 lbs. frequently, able to bend, squat, step up 5 steps to sheeter platform
• Pushing/pulling using manual pallet jack to move pallets (Av. 1000lbs, 50” high) of paperboard
• Manufacturing environment, noisy at times (hearing protection required), heated and cooled
• We offer a $250 bonus after 90-days and again at 1 year.
• Hourly increases available after 90 days and 6 months.
