Job Roles
  • Establishes supportive and trusting relationships with students through individual meetings, group sessions, and by being a visible presence on site and/or virtually.
  • Collaborates with instructors to address student needs and barriers by sourcing community support and referring students to appropriate resources.
  • Develops plans of action for students that have received academic, attendance, or code of conduct warnings or probation and oversees the student’s progress in achieving those goals.
  • Provides recommendations to staff to strengthen partnerships for student support services offered on- and off-site.
  • Initiates and manages the building of new relationships with community-based organizations and social service agencies to address student needs. Develops, stewards, and enhances existing relationships.
  • Facilitates student success through program/workshop development and/or implementation to include study skills and preparation for employment.
  • Collaborates with human resources to ensure all requirements are fulfilled and documented prior to students entering externship.
  • Assigns clinic mentors in collaboration with instructors and clinic leadership.
  • Manages changes in student status such as withdrawals, probation, and leaves of absence and ensure proper tuition refunds if applicable.
  • Assists students with navigating accommodations in collaboration with FHCSD Human Resources.
  • Selects and approves appropriate externship clinic sites, develop training for the on-site. supervisors, provides oversight of the externship experience, and ensure appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement in the externship experience.
  • Serves as a liaison between the graduates and clinic leadership, match student interests to vacancies, and collect data about graduate and employer satisfaction.
  • Implements specialized COVID-19 training based on up-to-date CDC guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Age 21; Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving with 7 years.
Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
  • Experience as a coach, coordinator, or administrator strongly preferred.
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development preferred
  • Experience working with students preferred.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and computer skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an educator, counselor, preceptor, or in a clinical supervision role in a healthcare related field preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider Basic Life Support
  • Commitment to cultural responsiveness and serving students from underserved or underrepresented populations in accordance with the school’s mission and vision.
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.
64,480.00 - 85,973.33
If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
