Long‐Term Care Delivery Driver – Job Description

Position Summary:

The Long‐Term Care Delivery Driver is responsible for the appropriate, timely delivery of equipment, supplies, and prescription medications to residential homes and facilities in accordance with customer demand and the requirements of the assigned first‐ or second‐shift route. Adheres to OSHA safety standards and follows department of transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Long‐Term Care Pharmacy Manager, who is a registered pharmacist.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loads company vehicle (non‐CDL) and makes deliveries to serviced facilities based on assigned route.
  • Manages inventory, including taking accurate counts of products, maintaining a delivery log, and keeping products in good condition.
  • Monitors equipment/vehicles for maintenance issues in order to maintain proper working condition; communicates maintenance needs to Route Coordinator.
  • Demonstrates competency and compliance with policies and procedures in the delivery and pick‐up of equipment, supplies, and prescription medications.
  • Follows generally accepted safe‐driving practices and complies with all state and local traffic laws.
  • Performs general facility cleaning as needed.
  • Adheres to all applicable state and federal privacy rules, including HIPAA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Required current valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background, pre‐employment drug test, and 3‐year BMV driving record check
  • Dependable
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time in a vehicle and make frequent stops
  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds; moving, lifting, or carrying boxes, totes, etc.
  • Fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity
